Sub-Penny Stock: Helix Wind Corp (HLXW.PK) Soars High Without Promotions

 HLXW chart.pngThe stock of Helix Wind Corp. (PINK:HLXW) ended last week on a high note. Not only did its price add 50% to its value, but also the traded volume reached its mid-January levels, scoring beyond the 293 million mark. Compared with the daily average trading volume of 75 million, it marked a four-fold surge.

So far, so good. Yet, the rapid jump from $0.0010 to $0.0015 cannot be attributed to any company news whatsoever. No promotional campaigns have been going on, either. Therefore, the only suggestion left is the classical pump-and-dump approach favoured by market makers.

Helix Wind Corp. specializes in small wind turbines designed to generate 2.0 and 4.0 Kw of renewable electricity. The company is headquartered in San Diego, California.

HLXW is a regular SEC filer. According to the latest 10-Q report covering the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2010, the company has:

  • $570 thousand in assets;
  • $5.8 million in liabilities, i.e ten times more than the amount of the assets;
  • net loss of $1.6 million.

Given the numbers stated above, the company's future as a going concern is far from clear and the reliance upon potential investors may not prove sufficient.
